About
Stefan Killen
Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, I have lived in New York City since 1991. I started out as a book cover designer but expanded into branding and identity, print collateral, annual reports, and websites, offering my clients project analysis, brand development, graphic design, and creative direction.
I am also a fine art photographer. My pinhole portraits and photographs of New York City are in private collections across the US, Europe, and Japan, and are included in the award-winning book Out of Focus: Pinhole Cameras and Their Pictures. My work has been exhibited at the Alan Klotz Gallery, the Center for Book Arts, and in shows juried by Molly Barnes and Larry Gagosian, and has been seen on such TV and movie sets as Girls, Creed, and Millionaires, as well as in Ian Schrager’s Clocktower restaurant in New York City. I am working on several books of my photography, including one on Walt Whitman’s poem Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. My website is at Pinhole New York.
I studied fine art at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, and received a Certificate in Graphic Design at the Basel School of Design’s Basics Course with Wolfgang Weingart.
